None But the Lonely Heart

Excerpts from Lamentations 1

Now that we have introduced everyone to Jeremiah, and have surveyed all five chapters in Lamentations, we’re ready to dig into the first chapter. The cries and anguish of the beleaguered city of Jerusalem tells her own tales of defeat, loneliness, and woe through Jeremiah’s pen. She was unwilling to hear and heed the prophet’s warnings as she persisted in selfishness, idolatry, and all forms of moral and ethical disobedience. Finally, the judgment of God fell. What a passionate message for all of us living in this post-Christian world!
