His Kids Summer Scrapbook

by Kristi McElheney, Ministry Leader of Elementary

As the summer activities wrap up, we are still posting all the pictures we've captured. And we continue to rejoice over many children who trusted Christ during Vacation Bible Schoo, Elementary and Sports Camps.

June 15–19: 1,270 kids attended each day of VBS. This included 170 walk-in registrants on the first day, many who had never attended our church. It was amazing to see God's hand in VBS this year as talked about being in God's army and how we can be victorious through God's power. By the end of the week, 23 children placed their trust in Christ for the first time.

June 24–28: Stonebriar sent nine special needs families and seven volunteers to the Joni & Friends Family Retreat in Navasota, Texas. Thanks to great success with the 2008 Special Needs Christmas Card sales, we were able to give more than $3400 in scholarship money. Lives were blessed because of this generosity.

Through baseball, football, and basketball camps, 160 kids gained valuable skills while learning what it means to have a godly character on and off the field. Nearly one-third of the campers accepted Christ in their hearts as they talked with coaches.

In July, 140 second- through fourth-graders packed up and headed to elementary camp. Continuing the army theme with M.A.S.H., each participant left camp understanding why they Must Always Serve Him.

In addition, more than 500 volunteers gave their time and energy to serve these children.
