Stonebriar’s Beginnings
On a warm autumn evening in 1998, a group of people met to talk and pray about forming a church in the center of Frisco, Texas. God united that group, which included Pastor Chuck Swindoll, and blessed their efforts, so Stonebriar Community Church was formed.
After just six months, 1,500 people were attending worship services at our temporary location—a community college. By February 2001, we opened the doors of our first worship center, and we completed our church campus with a new worship center in 2008 and a dedicated children’s building in 2010. By God’s gracious provision, our church fully paid off our land and buildings in 2022 and remains debt-free.
From the beginning, we have sought to be a church family devoted to biblical truth, Christ-centered service, and grace-filled community. As our church’s founders have long stated, our purpose is to glorify God by encouraging all people to pursue a lifelong, joyous relationship with Jesus Christ.
God’s Grace Leads Us Onward
In October of 2023, we celebrated the 25th anniversary of Stonebriar Community Church, having grown into a community of 3,700 weekly participants, as well as more than 11,000 online worshippers in 50+ countries around the world. Our church is home to more than 180 ministries, using the resources we’ve been given to serve people of all ages, needs, and stages of life.
A new chapter began in May of 2024 as Pastor Chuck Swindoll took on the role of Founding Pastor and Jonathan Murphy joined our staff as the new Senior Pastor. In every season, our church remains committed to teaching and studying Scripture, proclaiming the Gospel of Jesus Christ, and continuing our mission to love God and love others, because God first loved us.
