Don’t Make the Wrong Thing the Main Thing

Sometimes we miss the point, like when your boss says, “You should have been here at 8:30!” and you say, “Why? What happened at 8:30?” Or like a farmer who is too busy remodeling his barn to plant any seeds. The problem with missing the point is that it often comes with big consequences.  When it comes to our spiritual lives, we need to make sure we are not making the wrong thing the main thing.

When Jesus returned to His hometown of Nazareth, the people who had been around Jesus most of His life completely missed the point of His mission. Jesus came to seek and save the lost, but the people in His hometown missed it. How can we be around Jesus and still miss Jesus? By misunderstanding His true identity and His purpose, we can end up with a Jesus of our own creation.

Don’t make the wrong thing the main thing. Join us for an important two-part miniseries on Luke 4, and make sure you’re not missing the point of what it means to be a follower of Jesus.

All spoke well of Him and were amazed at the gracious words that came from His lips. “Isn’t this Joseph’s son?” they asked. (Luke 4:22, NIV)
