“[Love] does not rejoice about injustice but rejoices whenever the truth wins out. Love never gives up, never loses faith, is always hopeful, and endures through every circumstance . . . Three things will last forever—faith, hope, and love—and the greatest of these is love.”
1 Corinthians 13:6–7 & 13 (NLT)
Reflections for the Week
Think about the ways that you serve Christ in a local church. Perhaps you sing in the choir, serve as an usher, or work in the children’s ministry. In 1 Corinthians 13, Paul says that though we engage in these types of service, if we don’t have a heart of love, they are lacking. Think carefully about love being the necessary prerequisite for fruitful service.
Why does the apostle Paul state that love is greater than faith and hope?
Make a list of five things you can do next week that would demonstrate the love of Christ to the people you will encounter.
