Hearts Set on Pilgrimage

What joy for those whose strength comes from the Lord, who have set their minds on a pilgrimage to Jerusalem When they walk through the Valley of Weeping, it will become a place of refreshing springs. The autumn rains will clothe it with blessings. They will continue to grow stronger, and each of them will appear before God in Jerusalem. (Psalm 84:5-7, NLT)

Are we taking our strength from the past, or are we searching for strength from the Lord?

Come alongside Barbara Deatherage, Elementary Ministry Leader, as she teaches us precious lessons to set our hearts on a pilgrimage to discover the Lord’s strength as we face the future. We must learn to relinquish to God what is lost, in light of what we are gaining, and set our hearts on a personalized pilgrimage to follow the Lord.

    Barbara Deatherage is the Elementary Ministry Leader at Stonebriar Community Church. At nineteen, her life completely changed when she met Jesus Christ and accepted Him as her Savior. Three days later, she met Jim Deatherage who would become her husband. Barbara went from rebellious college girl to pastor’s wife in a very short amount of time. Several moves took them from Pennsylvania to Maryland to Virginia to North Carolina to Kansas and finally to the North Texas area where they live now. Also, along the way, Barbara and Jim became mom and dad to four children: Rachael, Caleb, Melody, and Evan. Their kids are growing up, but that means the blessing of five grandkids. What fun!
