David Ake is the Associate Pastor of Marriage Ministries at Stonebriar Community Church, where he serves alongside his beautiful bride, Jamie.

David and Jamie have been married for seventeen years, and David is still trying to figure out how Jamie fell in love with him. They have two daughters who have to hear all the time about how much Mom and Dad are in love. (They roll their eyes a lot.)

In their ministry, David and Jamie are passionate about encouraging strong, healthy marriages in every season of life. Through date night events, groups, and resources, they work to help couples connect and become more deeply rooted in God’s love and Word.

Enjoying the Marriage and Parenting Journey: A Grace-Filled Approach to Marriage, Parenting, and Conflict

Session 2: 11:10 a.m. to Noon

Marriage and parenting are an incredibly rewarding and challenging journey! The irony is that as we try to pursue the same goals of loving each other and shepherding our children toward the heart of God and healthy maturity, disagreement and conflict can easily surface. However, God’s grace and some healthy tools and perspectives can be very helpful on the path toward enjoying unity, joy, and hope in parenting. Join us as we look at:

  • Root causes of conflict in marriage and parenting at various stages of life and development.
  • Processes to pursue grace and unity in conflict within marriage and parenting.
  • Tools for understanding and applying different parenting styles and strategies with a Christ-centered perspective.
  • How parents’ healthy marriages contribute to maturity and resilience in children and adolescents.
