Bible Story Summary

  • Elisha did not want Elijah to leave.
  • Elisha told Elijah, “I want the same spirit that gives you power.”
  • Elijah said, “If you see me go, you will have it.”
  • Suddenly, a chariot of Fire took Elijah up to heaven in a whirlwind.
  • Elisha now had the spirit that was in Elijah.

Christ Connection

God gave Elisha the same spirit that was in Elijah so Elisha could do his work as a prophet. Years later, Jesus told His followers to wait for the Holy Spirit. God gives believers the Holy Spirit so they can share Jesus’ good news with the world.

Big Picture Question

What is idolatry? Idolatry is loving something else more than God.

Memory Verse:

“Love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul and with all your strength.”
Deuteronomy 6:5

Additional Resources for Sunday

In Early Childhood ministry, we teach basic biblical truths in ways little hearts can understand, from birth all the way through kindergarten. Our desire is to have children learn in fun and interesting ways how much God loves them. The video and resources on this page are designed for parents to experience this at home with their children.
