Celebration Singers love that good ’ol gospel music

- The Celebration Singers will sing praises and stir hearts with a night of gospel music on Sunday, June 18.
Stonebriar’s Celebration Singers will host a night of gospel music at
6 p.m., Sunday, June 18, in the SCC Worship Center. The evening of fun and praise to Jesus Christ will sample gospel music from its origins in the nineteenth century to today. A rousing gospel piano performance will precede the concert, and the grand finale will feature an old-fashioned hymn sing that will involve choir and audience alike.
Directed by David Hurter, the Celebration Singers is a group of men and women age 50 years or more who love to sing praises and enjoy great fellowship. They focus on gospel music but also sing more traditional anthems for worship services. Their outreach activities include performing for other churches and organizations such as the Salvation Army Rehabilitation Center.
The group is currently about 50 voices strong and welcomes new members. While music-reading ability is helpful, it is not required. Rehearsals are on Mondays from
6 to 7:15 p.m. at the church. Anyone interested in joining may call Worship and Music Ministries at 469-252-5207.
