Missions moves forward under Mark Young

In early January, Associate Pastor of Missions and Special Projects Mark Young traveled to India to visit Stonebriar’s Mission: India partners in Chhattisgarh.
Mark is overseeing SCC Missions while the church searches for a permanent Missions pastor. The goal of his trip was to assess the progress of Mission: India, which is now halfway through its ten-year plan. Accompanied by SCC member Gene Short, Mark visited Mission: India staff, orphanages, churches, and pastors.
“Our pastors in Chhattisgarh face tremendous challenges in the field, but despite that we have experienced tremendous growth,” Mark said. Currently, 178 indigenous pastors are serving in 891 home churches and cell groups, all planted in the last five years.
“The size of our ministry has increased so quickly that it’s crucial now to regroup, capitalize on our growth, stabilize leadership, and prepare for expansion into new areas,” Mark said.
On February 25, this year’s Missions Sunday, the Stonebriar family can get a broader view of God’s work in India. Worship services that day will feature an update on Missions, information on getting involved, and praise to God that one church can make a difference.
