DivorceCare offers shelter from the storm

- David Vereeke and June Trantham share hope in Christ with those who are facing separation and divorce.
The Apostle Paul wrote that God comforts believers so that they can comfort others with the comfort they received (2 Cor. 1:4)—a truth well illustrated by Stonebriar’s David Vereeke and June Trantham.
David and June each experienced divorce years ago. Now, they are helping others weather that same storm. For years, they have served in Stonebriar’s DivorceCare ministry.
“This ministry helps people find love, acceptance, and hope in the midst of separation and divorce,” June said. “Some people are hurting so badly when they first come that they can’t even talk about their situations. But God takes these broken vessels and restores them. By the time they leave, they have what they need to move forward with hope.”
DivorceCare is a Christ-centered program consisting of 13 weekly meetings. Each meeting includes a video and small-group discussion focusing on topics such as healing, anger, loneliness, children, and forgiveness.
Stonebriar’s program is coed, giving men and women a safe place to share with and learn from one another. David said that God does amazing works through the small groups.
“When people hear their problems through the words of others, they really open up,” he said. “They realize they are not alone, and they gain hope from hearing how others endure and overcome.”
Stonebriar offers DivorceCare twice yearly, beginning in September and January. Participants may join at any time during a 13-week session.
