Twila Paris and Korean children’s choir bring the world to Stonebriar

Stonebriar will host Christian artist Twila Paris and the World Vision Korea Children's Choir for a special August 20 concert.

On August 20, Stonebriar’s Worship Center will fill with the inspiring voices of Christian artist Twila Paris and the World Vision Korea Children’s Choir. Stonebriar will be one of only two Texas venues for this special, nationwide tour.

During the concert evening, Paris will perform a number of her well-known songs. The 40-member World Vision Korea Children’s Choir will present traditional hymns, American folk songs, current worship songs, and special songs with Paris. Their traditional Korean attire and drum and fan dances will make for a colorful evening.

“Twila’s music is inspired and worshipful,” said Melissa Quintero, executive assistant in SCC’s Worship and Music Ministries. Stonebriar’s hymnal includes seven of Paris’ songs, including He is Exalted and We Will Glorify. God has given Paris almost 25 years of success as a songwriter and recording artist. Her achievements include 32 “No. 1” songs, 10 Dove Awards, three American Songwriter Awards, three books published, and millions of albums sold.

The concert’s organizer, World Vision, is a Christian relief organization dedicated to helping children and their communities by tackling poverty worldwide. The choir is composed of talented children from a World Vision school in Korea.

KCBI, a listener-supported broadcast ministry of Criswell College, is sponsoring the concert. The KCBI 90.9 FM broadcast reaches some 200,000 people weekly. In addition to sponsoring the concert, KCBI will host its weekday morning show (6–9 a.m.) from Stonebriar’s lobby during the week preceding the concert.

Opportunities to reach out, give, and serve

The concert provides a great opportunity for Stonebriar members and attendees to invite friends who might not visit a church on Sunday morning.

Concert-goers also will have the opportunity to become World Vision child or family sponsors. Child sponsors give $30 or $35 monthly to provide one child with clean water, food, healthcare, education, and spiritual nurture. Family sponsors give $40 monthly.
