Reaching in the Right Direction
Reaching Up as we affirm God's sovereignty and Reaching Out to encourage those in the midst of suffering, doubt, and fear due to job loss is the heart of Stonebriar's new Reach Up, Reach Out ministry.
In light of the current economic climate, Stonebriar saw the need to minister to individuals walking through job loss, in pursuit of employment. With this in mind, a team of SCC pastors, administrators, and church members united to form Reach Up, Reach Out. This new ministry area is now providing encouragement to many people through valuable resources and a weekly encouragement meeting.
"Loss of employment carries an emotional impact that is difficult to manage. It also represents an opportunity for us to grow stronger in our faith and experience first-hand how God can redirect our priorities," shared one Reach Up, Reach Out attendee.
Individuals gather at 7 a.m. each week for a time of devotion, encouragement, and partnership by sharing resources and networking opportunities. Speaker topics are on a six-week rotating schedule and cover skills such as resume writing, interviewing, job search, career redesign, and perseverance.
In addition to providing encouragement and guidance, we hope to connect those who are seeking work with those who have employment opportunities. Above all, Reach Up, Reach Out is designed to be a place where people can come be encouraged in the Word and know that they are not alone as they walk through this challenging time of life.
