Habitat Home Nears Completion
SCC’s Habitat for Humanity project is quickly progressing from being an idea to becoming a home. Setting new benchmarks for speed and efficiency, our volunteers have "run out of materials or good weather before running out of day," remarked Roy Williamson, associate pastor of Care Ministries, and Stonebriar’s point man for the project.
Although May’s rainy weather put a stop to several weekends of work, things are moving quickly now, roof work is complete, and siding, windows, and doors have been installed.
SCC pastoral and resource ministries staff members took part in the project, installing siding during the May 21 "staff blitz."
Overall, Stonebriar volunteers have accomplished in three build weeks what the schedule calls for in six to seven weeks. Completion of the home is now scheduled for mid-July.
