A Season of Graduation and Celebration
by Kristi McElheney, ministry leader of elementary
This year in Awana more than 400 children learned God’s Word in a fun and exciting environment. We concluded by giving away more than 274 book awards during our award ceremonies. Each book award represents a child who understands and knows his or her Bible better today than one year ago. Awards were presented to preschool children who learned at least 33 verses; kindergarten through second graders who learned more than 25 verses—plus the books of the Old or New Testament; and third- and fourth-graders who learned 60 or more verses. It is incredible to know these children have hidden His word in their hearts.
We’re also tremendously thankful for more than 160 adult volunteers who gave their time each week to make Awana possible. Some of these volunteers served in Awana for the first time, others have served as long as 18 years.
Thank you to everyone who participated in Awana this past year! We look forward to seeing you in September.
