SoulCare

"All praise to the God and Father of our Master, Jesus the Messiah!  Father of all mercy!  God of all healing counsel!  He comes alongside us when we go through hard times, and before you know it, He brings us alongside someone else who is going through hard times so that we can be there for that person just as God was there for us."

     ---2 Corinthians 1:3-4  (The Message)

While redemption and restoration can only be accomplished through the atoning work of Christ, the work of caring for souls in our communities is accomplished through the Holy Spirit's gifting and directing believers in relationships with one another.  Stonebriar Community Church's SoulCare ministry mission is simple; it is a ministry that prayerfully connects "people who want to help...with people who need help."  The methods we use to "care" are varied.  They range from helping to meet physical and financial needs, to being "present" with others in walking alongside them as they wrestle with their emotional and spiritual needs.  Our SoulCare ministers believe that the Holy Spirit is the author of all change, growth, and the primary instrument of healing in all souls.  We as SoulCare ministers are so privilaged to join His work already in progress of another.  SoulCare ministers also believe that our greatest resource of "care" is faithful, fervent, and frequent prayer.

SoulCare team members will use P.E.A.C.E. to minister to their group.

You will begin by meeting with your assigned staff person. Get to know them and what ministry is in their care.

Pray

Pray often for staff, those who serve, and upcoming events.

Encourage

Encourage on a regular basis. Send an e-mail, note, or leave a voice mail offering a word of encouragement to the staff and leaders of those ministries.

Attend

Attend any of their meetings or ministry events, so you can see firsthand what is happening in that ministry as well as have the opportunity to build relationships with those involved.

Care

Care - send cards, e-mail, notes of encouragement, be creative. Assist in times of sickness, distress, grief...

Educate

Educate by being available to communicate helpful resources as needed such as counseling referrals, benevolence procedures, etc. Ask them to let you know if they need anything in this area, and we will try to assist.

It is important to be intentional about getting to know the folks in your particular ministry assignment. As we are willing to show up and be available to love and care for people...there is no telling what God will do!

Praying, encouraging, attending, caring, and educating is SoulCare. Remember we may spend a season of praying, encouraging, and attending before we ever get into a season of active caring and educating. We trust this to the Holy Spirit.
