Financial Assistance

Stonebriar members and regular attendees, as well as people in our community, can apply for short-term financial assistance to help in times of need. While we give priority to requests from members and regular attendees, we consider requests from others when possible. We are able to provide short-term assistance. Although we want to help anyone who asks, we cannot provide long-term assistance. Also, we do not help with childcare fees; long-term or recurring medical expenses; or credit card, tax, or legal expenses.

Steps to Applying for Financial Assistance

By carefully following the steps outlined below, you will help us complete your application process in about two weeks.

  1. Download and complete the Financial Assistance Application.

Once you complete the application, submit it to the attention of the Care Ministries department via fax 469-252-5255 or by delivery to the church offices (address/location).

  2. Move through the review and interview process.

To start that process, an administrative assistant from Care Ministries will discuss your request with you, either in person or by phone. If your application meets the guidelines, the administrative assistant will contact you to schedule a meeting with members of the Benevolence Committee. The committee is made up of Stonebriar members who have been trained to be compassionate and wise about financial difficulties. Interviews are held on Monday nights starting at 6:30 p.m. and last about 30 minutes each.

We also will ask you to provide copies of specific bills, paychecks, eviction notices, or other documents related to your request. (Please submit copies only; we cannot accept any original documents.)

  3. Attend your interview.

If you are married, your spouse should come to the interview with you. When you get to Stonebriar (location), you can wait in the main reception area until someone comes to take you to your interview. Your interview will be conducted in a private room. If you need to cancel your appointment, please call 469-252-5218 before 5 p.m. on the day of your interview.

  4. Wait for the committee’s decision

The administrative assistant will contact you within two business days of your interview to let you know the committee’s decision. Please remember that filling out an application and/or being interviewed does not guarantee that financial assistance will be provided.

If financial assistance is approved, we will contact you about coming by to pick up your check(s). Checks are made payable only to the companies you owe (e.g., mortgage company, utility company, etc.). You are responsible for mailing or delivering the checks to those companies. The committee may also recommend other assistance, such as a money management course, help with home or auto repairs, counseling, or other services and organizations.

Have Questions?

If you have more questions about financial assistance, call Care Ministries at 469-252-5218, or contact us online. We reply to inquires when staff and volunteers are in the office (Monday–Friday, 8:30 a.m.–5 p.m.). If you have an urgent need for pastoral care on a night, weekend, or holiday, call the church's main phone, 469-252-5200, listen to the phone message, and follow the directions for contacting the pastor on-call.
