Ministry Internships

Internships at Stonebriar are a ministry training program that contributes to the spiritual, personal, and professional development of men and women ministry leaders. The internship program uses the assets and the environment of the church to create a unique learning experience. Our program complements formal, academic training through personal accountability and evaluation, guided part-time ministry experience, and group interaction.

Qualifications

  • A potential intern must be currently involved in professional ministry training at an academic institution.
  • A potential intern needs to be a regular attendee or a member of SCC before applying to be an intern.
  • A potential intern needs to have observed ministry involvement at SCC.
  • A potential intern needs to meet Stonebriar Community Church’s normal requirements for employment as a ministry employee as outlined in the SCC Employee Handbook.

Program Benefits

  • Interns will work under the direction of a ministry mentor as defined in the Internship Covenant. The Internship Covenant is an agreed-upon set of parameters that lay out what the internship involves, who the intern is responsible to, and what goals and strategies are in place to best ensure that the internship is a success for both the intern and Stonebriar.
  • Interns will work toward the accomplishment of specific learning goals as defined in the Internship Covenant.
  • The intern and ministry mentor will meet monthly, or more frequently if needed, during the internship period to assess progress of goals and for mentoring.
  • Internships are established in six month increments: July 1–December 31 and January 1–June 30. The maximum length of an internship is two years (four periods of six months).
  • Interns are awarded a $1,000 tuition/book grant for each six months of involvement.

Have More Questions?

If you have questions about the ministry training program, call us at the church at 469-252-5200, or contact us online.

My internship at Stonebriar has been invaluable in my preparation for ministry. Not only does Stonebriar provide opportunity for significant responsibility, but they also complement this with interactive discussion in weekly intern meetings. Their commitment to building into their interns is clearly evident.
