Parent Support Group

Are you the parent of a child with special needs? Do you need to connect with others who are at the same place you are, or have already crossed the road you're crossing? If so, we have a place for you to be on the first Monday night of each month, starting February 4, 2008.

On February 4, 6:30 - 8 p.m., we'll kick off our Parent Support Group as a part of the SCC Special Needs Ministry. This support group will be co-led by the Special Needs Ministry and Pastoral Care Ministry, but it will be designed by those who participate. This is a great opportunity to have an encouraging and uplifting environment to find support among others. This group is open to ANY parent who would like to attend.

(Tentative room location is Room 206.)

Childcare is available by reservation only. To make your reservation, please call 469-252-5358.

What the Group Can Offer

  • A safe, non-judgmental, confidential outlet for sharing with peers who have similar experiences.
  • Understanding and assurance that you are not alone.
  • Methods that have worked for others in similar situations.
  • Ways to develop a positive attitude about the present and future.
  • The opportunity to help others by sharing your knowledge and experiences.
  • The opportunity to form new support relationships.
  • Biblical references that apply directly to your life.
  • Prayerful support.
