Baptism Class

This three-part mandatory class helps first- through fourth-grade children prepare for baptism. The class is open to children in that age range who have trusted Christ as Savior. Each class lasts one hour and is held on the three consecutive Tuesdays prior to baptism. We also offer a baptism class for preteens (fifth- and sixth-grade children) and a class for teens and adults.

Steps to Enrolling Your Child

  1. Talk to your child.

If your child has trusted Christ as Savior, talk to him or her about taking this class. Baptism should be a personal decision, and is not a requirement for salvation nor for attending Stonebriar.

  2. Choose a class.

2008-2009 Baptism Service and Class Dates:

    • Baptism service is November 2, 2008; classes start Tuesday, October 7.
    • Baptism service is February 8, 2009; classes start Tuesday, January 20.
    • Baptism service is April 5; classes start Tuesday, March 24.
    • Baptism service is July 26; classes start Tuesday, July 21.
    • Baptism service is October 25; classes start Tuesday, October 6.

(All dates are subject to change.)

  3. Register before the class begins.

Pick up a registration form at one of the Children’s Information Booths on Sunday mornings or download from this site. The booths are located to the left as you enter the first-floor lobby and to the left as you exit the second-floor elevators. Fill out and submit the form in one of these ways:

    • Via mail (address)
    • Send it by fax to Children's Ministries at 469-252-5390.
    • Deliver in person to the main office or Children’s Ministries office on Monday through Friday.
    • Deliver in person to a worker at the Children's Information Booth on Sunday morning.
  4. Make plans to attend the classes.

A few weeks before the class starts, you will receive a letter explaining class dates, times, and room location, along with the class workbook. After the class concludes, your child can choose to participate in the baptism service.
