Introducing Pablo Monroy

In a casual conversation with Pablo Monroy, new Associate Pastor of Stonebriar en Español, it could be easy to think things happened "out of the blue" in his life. But in his growth from a rebellious young preacher’s son to an introspective man dedicated to following God’s will, it is apparent that the events in Pablo’s life are anything but happenstance.
When Pablo committed his life to Jesus, he was eighteen years old and heading back from Mardi Gras. "I don’t think I knew back then that I would be a pastor, but I wanted to devote myself in some way. Growing up as a pastor’s kid, I rebelled against church, but I believe God put something in my heart, and although I rejected it at first, He used it to bring me closer to Him," Pablo shared.
Now happily married for five years to his wife, Iris, Pablo has begun another exciting phase of life: fatherhood. The birth of his daughter, Leah Luna, has made the importance of focusing on Christ even more apparent. "I now realize I have the responsibility to be a Godly example for my family." Pablo continued, "It’s important to remember that I need to run to Him about the
responsibilities and pressures of being a father rather than trying to handle it myself." Pablo and Iris are amazed by the depth of God’s love. "My wife says she doesn’t even know how much she loves Leah because that love just goes so deep—and God’s love is even deeper than that. You just can’t even imagine."
His love of family will translate well with Pablo’s new position as he focuses on discipleship and connecting with the people of Stonebriar en Español. "Iris and I feel called to do Spanish ministry." He explains, "There is a difference between being called and just doing. Since my dad’s church was Spanish-speaking, God really gave me a heart for Hispanic ministries and I feel that it was what I was put on this earth to do."
Stonebriar en Español’s pastor, Carlos Zazueta, is thrilled to have Pablo on the leadership team. "I have two words that stand out about Pablo:
humility and teachability. It is a joy to work with him as a partner in ministry."
