Celebration Singers, under the direction of Steve Burwell, is a group of men and women of all ages who enjoy gospel music and who share a desire to glorify God through singing, fellowship, and ministry within the church and throughout the community.  You don’t have to have a background in music or prior singing experience to join Celebration Singers – just a love of Gospel music.  New members are welcome all year long.

The choir rehearses on Monday evenings from 6:30–8:00 p.m. in the Choir Room.  Our season begins in September and closes with the presentation of the annual Spring Concert in early June.

This choir was first organized in the fall of 2003 by Joy Lovell, who acted as both Director and accompanist.  Joan Simons joined the group as accompanist in the spring of 2004 and still performs that role.  By the end of 2005, the group had grown to 60 members and has maintained that approximate number every year since then.  Steve Burwell, the current Director, joined the choir in the fall of 2006, and brings a long history of involvement in performing and directing.

Serving the Community
Our mission is to reach out to the community through music all to the glory of the Lord.  Most venues for the performances are retirement centers and nursing homes, although occasionally other area groups or locations are included.  All year long, we visit these local venues, some repeated by invitation, to share our love for Gospel music.  Each year, the choir also prepares and presents a special Christmas program for performances in late November and December.  In the spring, performances include music from our repertoire plus new music selections being prepared for the annual spring concert.

From a new choir member: Becoming a part of the Celebration Singers has put a joy back into my heart and allows me to give joy back to those who may be suffering…

From a friend of a friend…the music was beautiful and it made her realize how much she missed being in church.  If the music draws someone to the Lord, it will be worth it all.
