Stuff from Staff
You are on the blog now. It's stuff from the hearts and minds of Stonebriar staff. It is more people's views than anything else, but we wouldn't have hired these folks if they didn't agree with the core beliefs we hold true. This blog is a casual forum for polite, open discussion, not a platform for pronouncing doctrine. Know that what you read here is opinion and not the official position or teachings of the church.

How To Welcome A Returning Pastor

A good shepherd does what it takes to get his sheep to pasture. Obviously he cares for the needs of the sheep. He feeds them. He nurtures their bruised legs as they walk. He even stands in the path of danger in order to protect them on the way. I saw a good example of this while traveling in Colorado on vacation one year. My family and I were driving to our campground—one that was way back in the national forests. As I maneuvered the curves in the two-lane road, we unexpectedly came …

If you are asking the age-old question, “What am I doing here?”, then you have found the right place for an answer. You are reading a blog. You’re welcome.

I hope you weren’t looking for a deep answer, because this ain’t the place. And I’m not the guy.

I guess I should tell you who I am. I am Roy Williamson and I serve as the Pastor over Families and Parenting Ministries at Stonebriar Community Church. I am the oldest new pastor around; I graduated from Dallas Seminary in August of 2003. …

This New First Something

A few days ago I wrote my first blog—for a guy who regularly crashes his computer, that’s a milestone. As I sat in front of my computer, I mused about some of the “firsts” in my life, and then I wondered how we all respond to first somethings. First date, first time to eat a Cajun meal, first failure at work, first success at work, first worship service—you know, all the firsts of something in our lives.

Then I remembered God’s disappointment with the Ephesian church in Revelation 2. “I have this against you,” he said, …

On the Road Again (Well, sort of. Actually it’s “on the plane again.”)

I’m leaving this afternoon for Moscow, Russia, where I will be working with Peter Mitskevich. Peter, a former medical doctor in Russia, studied at Dallas Theological Seminary. Since graduating from DTS and returning to Moscow, Peter has planted a new church, worked in the leadership of the Russian Baptist Union, and developed the Russian broadcast of Insight for Living. In many regards he is the Russian Chuck Swindoll.

Recently Peter was appointed to be the President of Moscow Theological Seminary. He called me this summer to seek advice on a wide array of issues and challenges facing …

The Tech Girl Speaks

So, we created this website to help create a connection point for our community. A place where our pastors could converse freely with our community. There are so many things to learn, share or discuss about Jesus Christ. I think we could spend our whole lives and never run out of things to share about our Lord.

I wish I could tell you that I am this great theologian and my posts will contain topics that enlighten you or help you ponder the words that come from the Bible or God himself. The truth is - …
