Your Membership Means More Than Signing a Piece of Paper

Becoming a member of Stonebriar Community Church expresses your commitment to this spiritual family—a family that worships together, grows in faith together, and serves one another. We want to help you solidify your faith and find your place to belong.

To become a member and ministry partner with Stonebriar Community Church, one must trust in Christ for salvation, be at least 18 years of age, live in the community or within driving distance (thus available to partner with us in onsite ministry), and complete our Membership Class, which is held over three consecutive Sunday mornings, and covers our church’s beliefs and ministries.

In our Membership Class, we review Stonebriar’s history, provide an overview of our ministry values and our Statement of Faith, and present opportunities for connecting to small groups and areas of service. If you are interested in membership, please choose the three-week class you wish to attend. Membership classes are available in both English and Spanish.

Registration is required for Membership Classes. You can register through your Stonebriar portal account. Creating your portal access is a one-time setup and is used for most events around our church.

The Meaning of Membership

“Just as our bodies have many parts and each part has a special function, so it is with Christ’s body. We are many parts of one body, and we all belong to each other.” (Romans 12:4-5)

Church membership is not a means of salvation. Becoming a member of Stonebriar or any other church does not assure anyone of eternal life in Heaven. Church membership is also not a requirement for worshiping or serving at Stonebriar, and it is not a command found in the Bible. The Bible does tell believers, however, to meet regularly with a group of Christians who love, serve, and encourage one another (see Ephesians 4:16, I Timothy 3:15, and Romans 12:4-5).

Some churches link church membership and baptism, but that is not the case at Stonebriar. If you would like to learn more about baptism, we offer quarterly baptism classes for all ages. Membership classes are available in both English and Spanish.

Due to ministry restructuring surrounding COVID-19, we will offer both an in-person attendance option and an online attendance option via online Zoom meetings. Because class size is limited, we require registration prior to attending membership class.

Spiritual Gift Inventory

Members are active participants in church life, and serving our church family and community is a key part of membership. While we are all called to serve wherever there is a need, each of us have also been blessed with spiritual gifts that equip us to serve in specific ways. In our Membership Class, you’ll be invited to take our spiritual gifts inventory to discover your strengths and find ways to use them.

You can take this inventory any time to help you identify where to serve. You can also explore current openings on our serving opportunities page, or reach out to ProjectServe Ministry Leader Kim Porter at serving@stonebriar.org. We look forward to connecting with you and helping you use the gifts God has given you!
